The croissant overall was chewy – but it still makes for a messy eat as the outermost crust was flaky. The interior is on the more solid side. Soft rise after depression but not exactly like the “memory foam” rise of other airy breads. It has a pleasant light grain scent and dark brown exterior. What I like about it is that it has moisture that only becomes evident when you eat it – the croissant is dry to the touch which makes it good for storage (i.e. the butter won’t soak through the bag and/or get on your hands) but in your mouth, that butter will melt. It has a wider shape than most croissants. However, the croissant is somewhat papery, like it’s infused with the surrounding scent of how it was stored. You will be reminded of cardboard boxes.
Final verdict? Croissants are a comfort food at the end of the day. While this one isn’t spectacular, it’s a great size for the price and a great order if you need something to eat along with the coffee.
